How to: Piped buttercream cake top!

Today we are decorating the top of our cake using 3 of our favourite piping tips/designs. These would be great to add to your collection if you're just starting out, or to gift to a budding cake decorator! We're using the #1M, #125 and #4B tips.

It really is practice makes perfect when it comes to piping, but it does help to have super smooth, silky buttercream and use even pressure when squeezing the bag.

We always soften our buttercreams by 10 seconds at a time in the microwave, and give them a really good mixing with a spoon or spatula before starting. This get's it nice and smooth and rid of a lot of the air bubbles.
